Registered Architect NSW 7418

Adrian is a Principal in fjcstudio’s Oxford office, with over 20 years of experience on institutional, laboratory, multi residential, and heritage projects in the UK, Australia and internationally. He is skilled in guiding projects from concept through to delivery, combining strong design capability with detailed technical knowledge.

He has led major education and research projects for the University of Oxford, including the Chemistry Teaching Laboratory and Tinbergen Modular Laboratories, both requiring advanced laboratory environments within existing architectural frameworks and extensive consultation with users.

Adrian has significant experience in adaptive reuse and conservation. Early in his career, he contributed to the refurbishment of the Sydney Opera House and the Asian Gallery extension at the Art Gallery of New South Wales, both contemporary interventions in culturally significant buildings. More recently, he completed Reuben College, Oxford’s first new college in more than 30 years, created through the transformation of Grade II listed wings of the Radcliffe Science Library and the Inorganic Chemistry Laboratory. He also led the £56M renewal of the Radcliffe Science Library, restoring historic interiors, upgrading performance and creating new spaces for academic and student use.

Adrian has also delivered major student accommodation projects. These include Court Place Gardens, a nine-acre graduate housing community within the Iffley Conservation Area, where 71 new dwellings were designed around landscaped communal courts and built to Passivhaus principles. He also led the 515-bed Student Castle in Oxford, a large-scale development that balances high density with social amenity and long-term sustainability.
