Flexible Multipurpose Use
Courts are designed for many sports and for assemblies, events and community programs, with line marking, storage and flexible furniture planned from the outset. Seating, staging and clear floor areas let one space move easily between sport, school assemblies, performances and community events through the day, week and year.
Part of a Wider Hub
We integrate courts with libraries, learning spaces, youth services and function rooms, so one visit can combine sport, study and community life, as at Nunawading Community Hub. Bringing these uses together under one roof makes better use of public land and investment, and draws a wider community into each facility.
Courts on Constrained Sites
On dense urban sites, courts can be stacked or placed on roofs. At Inner Sydney High School, an outdoor multipurpose court sits above the studio. Careful structure, acoustics and fencing make elevated courts safe and practical, so even compact sites can offer students and communities generous space for sport.
Light and Warmth
Daylight, controlled glare and warm materials such as timber make courts welcoming places to play and gather, not just functional halls. Glazing and skylights are placed to avoid glare on the playing surface, and views between courts, foyers and surrounding spaces make activity visible and draw people in.
Acoustics and Comfort
Acoustic treatment, ventilation and thermal comfort make large volumes work for players, spectators and events alike. Sound-absorbing surfaces keep noise manageable during games and assemblies, while ventilation and shading help maintain comfortable conditions through the year, reducing reliance on mechanical systems and the cost of running the building.
Community Access
Clear entries, foyers and good sightlines let courts open to the community beyond school or program hours, supporting shared use and safety. Separate access, secure zoning and well-placed amenities allow courts to be used in the evening and on weekends without opening the rest of the building, so facilities serve more people.
