fjcstudio

Schools

fjcstudio designs schools for students from early learning to Year 12, placing children, teachers and families at the centre. Our briefs develop with students, staff, parents, alumni and education providers, and each design responds to pedagogy, place and Country, from vertical schools on constrained urban sites to innovation centres and long-term campus masterplans.

From Darlington Public School, named World Building of the Year at the 2024 World Architecture Festival, to Inner Sydney High School, a high-rise campus for 1,200 students beside Prince Alfred Park, our work connects learning with landscape. Outdoor classrooms, gardens, terraces and yarning circles extend teaching beyond the classroom. At Loreto Kirribilli, St Augustine’s College, Brigidine College and Moriah College, our masterplans set frameworks for staged growth that each new building builds on.

Our schools provide flexible learning hubs and specialist design and technology, science and performing arts facilities, organised around clear wayfinding, safety and connection with the wider community. We also bring delivery innovation to the sector: our DfMA prototype learning hub, developed with Built, uses mass timber on a repeatable grid, targeting a 60 per cent reduction in design time and a 50 per cent reduction in construction time.
