Tertiary Education
fjcstudio has a long history of educational projects for schools and tertiary institutions, across educational architecture and campus master planning. We have undertaken repeat commissions for many institutions, reflecting buildings that are economical to operate and flexible in use over a long life.
Educational institutions invest twice in a project, as both owner and long-term user. We understand the issues that matter most to them: meeting programme parameters within the pressures of the academic calendar, safety and security for staff and students, and the limits of capital and ongoing budgets.
Designing for learning is shifting towards flexible, adaptable environments that foster collaboration, creativity and innovation. Our buildings prioritise student-centred design, interactive learning, technology integration and multifunctional spaces that accommodate diverse teaching methods and evolving pedagogies.
UTS Central
A vertical campus of collegiate promenade and informal collaboration on Broadway, with the library and reading room at its heart.
Reuben College, University of Oxford
Oxford’s first new college of the twenty-first century, transforming Grade II listed buildings with restored original finishes and one of the University’s largest decarbonisation projects.
Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney
Research and teaching organised as an open, fluid, interlocking ribbon of collaboration and light.
Tyree Energy Technologies Building, UNSW
Technology and research sheltered under an extension of the tree canopy, on the gateway site of the UNSW campus.
