UTS Law Faculty

The fitout
The fitout for the UTS Law Faculty is comprised of the Dean’s suite, a high quantity of cellular offices surrounded by open plan work areas, a range of meeting rooms, break out spaces and a large boardroom.
The key concept for Law Faculty was to create a new ‘collegial and collaborative’ working and learning environment but equally important was to maintain certain aspects of their current way of thinking and working.
Enclosed offices
Due to the confidential nature of their work the faculty staff working environment has a strong focus towards enclosed offices. A key aspect of the fitout design was to accommodate the required dense spatial arrangement whilst still maintaining excellent access to daylight and views.
Key circulation paths have been defined on a vertical and horizontal axis around the floor. There is a constant sense of direction and sight line to the facade, regardless of location.
Breakout spaces
Spaces on the floors that are not defined as enclosed or workstations are utilised for breakout spaces allowing for informal meetings to occur, encouraging a greater collegiate and collaborative work to develop. Breakout areas around the wintergarden can also be used as informal waiting areas or as an extension to the common room and kitchenettes.
The curved white ribbon facade and the slight shifting or movement of the floorplates are balanced in the interiors with gently curved geometry of the enclosed meeting rooms and offices.
Materials
The material palette displays a restrained, soft natural palette, inspired by the urban setting of the campus adjacent to the Alumni Green and the wintergarden on the upper levels of the building. Soft greys, natural and dark timbers and a range of whites are punctuated by muted greens, providing a calm and refined palette.
